Day 23, Thursday 5/4:

Our destination for today was Tallinn; however there were still a few things that we wanted to see on Saaremaa. En route to the ferry we checked out the Kaali meteorite crater, created thousands of years ago and now forming a circular lake that looked quite pretty frozen over.
We also passed by a number of windmills at Angla. These are in both traditional Estonian and Dutch styles. We couldn’t dally for too long though, as we had a ferry to catch.
Fortunately we were just in time and the rest of the trip went smoothly. In Tallinn, we had booked an apartment for three nights, on the edge of the old town. The hotel has no external markings, as it was located in the center of residential apartments, so we had to follow a specific set of instructions to gain access. After we had located a postbox, taco shop, entered a pin code, went up to fourth floor and had been interrogated by a Russian, we were given the keys to the apartment and instructions on how to park the car. The apartment was very comfortable and we soon settled in. We set out to visit the town, wandering through the very pretty, snowy streets to the Beer House, located just off the Main Square, Raekoja Platz. I had a very nice honey mead beer. We then continued on to the Suckling Pig restaurant, recommended to us by my Omi, for having traditional Estonian fare. Indeed, we had a lovely Estonian meal. I had a roasted pork knuckle (of which I significantly underestimated the size), Philip had a stew and Patsy had rabbit.
